APS Hangar Waiting List

This Hangar Wait List Policy was developed to provide a fair and reasonable process for aircraft owners who seek hangar space at Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport (APS) and to establish expectations of all parties when hangar space becomes available. It is the objective and responsibility of the Airport to minimize the customer’s wait time on the list and to ensure compliance with FAA’s Hangar Use Policy as described under FAAO 5190.6B.

All customers must be on the waiting list to lease a hangar for the purposes of aircraft storage from the Airport. The Wait List shall be managed by the Airport and routinely updated.

New Customers: Customers who do not have a current lease agreement with the Airport or not affiliated with an aircraft already based at the Airport.

Existing Customers: Existing customers with an active hangar or tie-down agreement may be prioritized for hangar space – given the following requirements are met:

  • Customer is seeking to transfer to a vacant hangar of similar size (i.e. t-hangar to t-hangar).
  • Customer is current tie-down customer at APS

An existing customer who seeks additional hangar space will be deemed as a New Customer. Existing customers must also be in good financial standing (no past due accounts) to apply and/or remain on the Hangar Waiting List.

Requirements: All customers seeking to lease airport-owned aircraft hangars must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have an airworthy aircraft 1
  • Aircraft must be registered to Customer; no subleasing allowed 2
  • Must meet applicable insurance requirements including waiver of subrogation
  • Must ensure APS has current aircraft and contact information at all times

1 Applicants not in possession of an airworthy aircraft at the time the offer is made may be considered a refusal. The applicant, at the discretion of the Airport, may be granted up to ninety (90) days to provide proof of aircraft ownership, co-ownership or lease.

2 Applicant must be the LESSEE on the lease and may not sublease the hangar. A person who leases a hangar for the purpose of constructing an aircraft shall begin construction of the aircraft shall complete the construction of the aircraft within a mutual agreed upon time frame in writing as guided by the FAA’s Hangar Use Policy as described under FAAO 5190.6B as to prevent indefinite storage of derelict aircraft or parts.

Notice of Availability/Acceptance: When a hangar of appropriate size to the aircraft listed in the application becomes available, the Airport will begin contacting the applicants from the top of the Waiting List. The offer will be made both by phone and/or by email containing a conditional offer. The applicant must respond to the conditional offer and execute a lease with the first month’s lease amount including any required deposits remitted within ten (10) business days. Offers may be conditionally accepted by phone but must respond in writing via email for final acceptance. If the applicant does not execute a lease agreement within (10) business days, he or she may forfeit their award, and the offer may be deemed a refusal at the sole discretion of the Airport. If the lease is executed, the applicant’s name will be removed from the Wait List and the applicant will need to submit another application to be added to the Wait List.

Declination/Refusal: If the applicant does not respond within three (3) business days (excluding recognized holidays), the Airport will deem the response as a refusal. Each applicant shall receive one refusal with no position change on the list. After one refusal, the Airport reserves the right to remove the applicant from the Wait List or move applicant’s name to the bottom of the list.

Positions on Wait List: Positions may not be sold, gifted, or transferred. Positions on the list will be identified in the order where applications are received. Applicants may re-apply should his or her name be removed from the List.

Individuals on Wait List as of May 20, 2025: The Hangar Request Application shall be sent to all individuals on the current hangar waiting list as of May 20, 2025. Persons on the current waiting list will be required to submit the Hangar Request Application by June 30, 2025. Failure to submit a completed Hangar Request Application may result in removal from the hangar waiting list. Individuals who are on the waiting list as of May 19, 2025, and who return the completed Hangar Request Application shall retain their current place on the waiting list.

Exclusions: This policy only applies to single occupancy hangars or hangars where a single aircraft spot is being leased for aircraft storage. This does not include customers seeking to provide an approved commercial aeronautical service or leasing larger hangars as recommended by the Airport.
