BRIAN COX
Deputy Port Director
Brian Cox brings more than 25 years of experience in port operations and leadership to his role as Deputy Port Director. He oversees the performance and efficiency of departments across the organization, supports day-to-day executive management, and helps ensure operational continuity while advancing the Port’s mission and strategic objectives.
Previously, Brian served as Chief Operating Officer, where he managed critical functions including project management, port security, marine
operations, maintenance, information technology, airport operations, and grant-funded initiatives such as MARAD, Port Priority, and Port Security projects. His leadership was instrumental in the expansion of Globalplex Intermodal Terminal and other modernization efforts.
Brian’s maritime career is truly an industry success story, beginning in 1999 as a dock worker for Coastal Cargo Company, a New Orleans-based stevedoring firm. Prior to his tenure at the Port of South Louisiana, he served as General Manager for Associated Terminals in Convent, Louisiana, overseeing all facility operations, including those at Globalplex.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Brian has a distinguished record of public service, having served as a reserve police officer with the New Orleans Police Department for ten years and with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for five years.
